SMAN

SMAN is an enhanced version of apropos that allow free text searches on your system's man pages.
SMAN consists of two programs:

sman, a manpage searching tool, which is similar to apropos or 'man -k', and
sman-update, which is intended to be run periodically to sync the sman index with your man pages.

Sman requires SWISH-E 2.4.0 or later and SWISH::API, both of which are included in the tarball at http://swish-e.org/Download. Full instructions to install SWISH-E can be found in the SWISH-E documentation or at the article "How To Index Anything."
